The Hold Steady Kickoff "Massive Nights" Livestream with 25 Songs

Christmas came early for fans of The Hold Steady this week. The Brooklyn rockers announced a new record, Open Door Policy, due out February 19, 2021, and shared the first single off the LP - "Family Farm." Listen below:

Last night, THS celebrated the announcement by kicking off their first (of three) livestream concerts, performed at the Brooklyn Bowl. The 25-song setlist didn't live debut the new song (yet), but they did perform one track off the forthcoming album - "Lanyards." This song got its live debut a year ago and has been performed three times since.

“This album was written and almost entirely recorded before the pandemic started, but the songs and stories explore power, wealth, mental health, technology, capitalism, consumerism, and survival–issues which have compounded in 2020.” - Craig Finn.

The setlist featured a colorful showing of material across the scope of their career, with eight albums represented in their set. The set opened up with "Positive Jam" and they mostly played songs off of Boys and Girls in America, Stay Positive, and Separation Sunday.

After ending the main set with "How a Resurrection Really Feels," they encored the livestream with four songs. They performed "Stay Positive" with special guest and friend Mosh Pit Josh. Then they closed out the event on "Killer Parties."
