The National Play Last 2019 Show in Lisbon with 24 Song Setlist

It’s been seven months since the release of The National’s most recent album I Am Easy to Find and eight months since they kicked off the subsequent tour. Named after the record it’s promoting, the world tour consisted of over sixty dates across North America and Europe.

Originally formed in 1999, the Cincinnati natives have released a total of fourteen live, studio and EP records over the past twenty years, giving them plenty to work with when it comes to compiling tour content.

Of course, considering the promotion of the recent music, it only makes sense that the band played more songs off of I Am Easy to Find than any other album throughout the tour. However, while there were plenty of songs that consistently found their way onto the setlist every night, The National did alter the set often, giving audiences an individualized experience in every city, including the at the final date in Lisbon, Portugal.

Compared to the rest of the setlist trends from the tour, Lisbon deviated a bit more than the norm. Accompanied by an impressive custom lighting setup, The National found themselves performing a variety of hits across their catalogue at their tour wrap.

Keeping with some consistency, the guys were sure to play a few staples from the rest of the tour that were featured nearly every night. From “You Had Your Soul With You,” “Hey Rosey” and “Where Is Her Head” to “The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness,” “Rylan” and “Light Years,” The National set a basis from which they built the rest of the set from night-to-night.

On the other hand, the Lisbon set also included a few deeper cuts that were only played live on this tour a handful of times. Some of these rarer tracks include “Looking for Astronauts” off of Alligator (2005), “I Should Live in Salt,” and “This Is the Last Time” off of Trouble Will Find Me (2013) and “About Today” off of Cherry Tree (2004).

As with the majority of the shows on the I Am Easy To Find World Tour, The National concluded the final date of the tour with a hefty five-song encore including hits from albums other than I Am East To Find. Featuring “Pink Rabbits,” “Mr. November,” “Terrible Today,” “About Today” and “Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks,” the tour finale ended with an audience sing along like no other. Talk about the perfect ending to a seemingly endless run.
