After pop-punk band SWMRS released their sophomore album Berkeley's On Fire earlier this year, the brotherly four-piece restlessly toured in support all year long, and even got a chance to open for Muse!
A SWMRS show is particularly special, co-frontman Cole Becker explains:
“When we were writing these songs we were very conscious of our role in creating a space for people to escape from the nonstop negative media cycle."
Currently, the boys are taking a break as their bandmate Max Becker recovers from a car accident. Becker was able to come home to Oakland a couple of weeks ago and continue to rehab from his injuries!
We can't wait to see what's in store for SWMRS in the new year! While we patiently await for 2020, drummer Joey Armstrong shared with us his favorite shows from 2019 as both a performer, and a fan, and then tells us about SWMRS 2020 plans - check it out!
What was your favorite show that YOU played this year?
Uncool Halloween at The UC Theatre in Berkeley, CA -- It means the most. It’s our hometown party that we host every year. Our families help us decorate and our friends join us to make it an extremely special night. We’ve grown it ever year, but this one was special.
What was your favorite show that you SAW this year?
The 1975 at the O2 in London. George Daniel is one of my favorite drummers. I had never seen them live before, and to see them end their tour in their home town at such a dream of a venue was pretty remarkable.
What do you have planned for 2020?
We are touring with Cage The Elephant to start off the year. Beyond that we are just going to continue to make music and travel with our core group of friends and family.
