Name a more iconic rock band than KISS. Sure, there’s the true rock ‘n’ roll pioneers like Zeppelin, The Who, or The Stones, but no band has made their mark as loudly as KISS. And now, after nearly five decades of hard-hitting music and glorious face paint, the legendary performers are finally packing it in following their current End of the Road World Tour.
But don’t fret, though the farewell tour may sound a bit intimidating, the End of the Road World Tour is expected to last as long as three years. Of course, it must be noted that the first run did kick off this past January, meaning the clock is ticking when it comes to catching this unforgettable show live. And we do mean unforgettable.
Kicking off their fourth leg of the tour, KISS have made their way to Japan for a limited number of shows across the country. Luckily, with arenas and domes serving as the venue every night, the band is giving fans every opportunity to catch them live for a final time.
Sporting their usual armor attire, KISS have taken advantage of a seemingly unmatched production gleamed with pyrotechnics, moving stages and one of the most complicated lighting setups you’ll encounter. Paired with the fitting fire-breathing and blood-spitting antics of the legendary Gene Simmons (bass), and this show truly sets itself apart from the rest.
Not surprisingly, with a production as large as this, the setlist has remained practically untouched during all four legs of the tour. With that many live components to undertake, it’s hard to make many significant changes to a staged act. However, there have been a few surprises on the Japan run thus far.

From “Detroit Rock City,” “Shout It Out Loud,” “Deuce” and “War Machine” to “Lick It Up,” “God of Thunder,” “Love Gun” and “Black Diamond,” KISS haven’t been afraid to pack on their greatest hits from night-to-night on the island.
On the other hand, it would be odd for such an iconic band not to commemorate their Japanese fans after trekking so far around the world. Considering that very argument, Paul Stanley (vocals & guitar) has paid a special tribute to the legendary Japanese musician Kyu Sakamoto every night with a cover of his 1962 hit “Sukiyaki.”
