Houston rapper Hyron Fenton, known as stage name HYRO THE HERO, spent his 2019 supporting P.O.D. and Nonpoint on tour, performing on the Rockstar Energy Drink Disrupt Energy festival tour, putting out new single "Monster," and a new music video for "NEVER BACK DOWN." HYRO literally never backs down as he continues to play shows, create new music, and give a new meaning to rap-metal.

HYRO is set to perform at New Orleans' Shiprocked in February 2020 alongside Halestorm and Alter Bridge. In the meantime, we asked the artist to reflect on his favorite shows both as a performer and a fan, and to share his 2020 plans with us!

What was your favorite show that YOU played this year?

My favorite show I played this year had to be on tour with Nonpoint in New Orleans. It was pure insanity. Fans jumping on stage rocking the mic with me and also they took the words of my song “Get The F*ck Up” serious,  someone climbed to the roof of the building to rock out. Epic.

What was your favorite show that you SAW this year?

My favorite show I saw this year was seeing Sum 41 live on Rockstar Disrupt tour. Also, watching other acts at all of the amazing festivals I played. So many bands showed me love and gave me shout outs on stage this year including Beartooth, Sleeping with Sirens, Wilson, The Used, Andy Black, Memphis Mayfire, Asking Alexandria, and Sevendust. It’s hard to pick a favorite, honestly.

What do you have planned for 2020?

I have a new album planned for 2020 with my new label, Eleven Seven/Better Noise. It will be so sick. I’m also going to be back on the Shiprocked Cruise. It’s so much fun on that boat. More is in store but that will come when I finish this album. I can’t wait for people to hear this.
