On This Day in 1998, Monica Live Debuted "Angel of Mine"

On November 19, 1998, R&B singer Monica live debuted her #1 most-performed song, "Angel of Mine." It was the third single from her sophomore album, That Boy is Mine, for which she'd snag her first Grammy the following year.

The goosebump-inducing performance was aired for The Donny & Marie Osmond Talk Show in New York City. Take a look:

"Angel of Mine" went on to be Monica's most performed song, followed by "So gone."

On November 29 Monica will receive the Lady of Soul honor for the 2020 Soul Train awards. She is also gearing up to release her 9th studio album Trenches.

"For us, when you grow up in the trenches, that means you know what it’s like to be without. That means you understand what trying to work your way out of a particular place feels like and you don’t take the opportunities for granted. But some people are in the trenches emotionally. When I was working on this album, I’ve never been in the trenches in a worst way.” - Monica
