Check Out These Rare Spoilers for Tool's 2019 Fear Inoculum Tour!

It’s been quite a run on Tool’s Fear Inoculum tour thus far. About half way through the North American trek, the legendary alternative metal band has held true to their covert ways, giving away very little of what to expect at any of these shows.

Of course, considering the release of their first album in over a decade back in August, it is certain that the Los Angeles natives are touring in support of Fear Inoculum. Fortunately, despite the long hiatus in terms of new content, Tool fans have flocked to these shows, selling out some of the largest venues across North America. Talk about a rarity when it comes to an album-reliant alternative band.

But that’s just the influence of Tool. With only five full-studio albums under their belt since their formation in 1990, it’s no surprise that every record has been as musically successful as they are. Tool is simply that talented.

So what should fans look forward to on the Fear Inoculum tour? Well, check out our rare tour spoilers below to get a glimpse into their current tight-lipped production!

What’s with all the secrecy?
In typical Tool fashion, the metal legends have been quite strict when it comes to any kind of recording during their live performances. In fact, they have hired security to ensure that fans do not take their phones out during the show. With this type of limited coverage, it’s hard to decipher what fans should expect on the tour. Fortunately, we have some key information to share with you, so keep reading on for more!

Is there an opener?
Yes! Tool has welcomed rock band Killing Joke as special guests on their Fear Inoculum tour. Originally formed in 1978, the British natives have since earned a legendary status in the post-punk world, releasing over forty studio, compilation, live and video albums combined.

Have Tool changed their setlist throughout the tour?
Although the setlist has remained somewhat consistent throughout the trek thus far, Tool has been sure to change it up every so often. Whether it be the order of the tracks or the choice in songs themselves, the band has made minor changes to the set from night-to-night, so expect a few surprises along the way.

Which songs have been interchangeable?
When referring to the changes made to the setlist, there are some songs that have been played fewer times than others. These interchangeable tracks include “The Pot,” “Intolerance,” “Part of Me” and “Descending,” which has only been performed twice thus far.

What song do they open with?
Despite the trivial changes to the setlist from night-to-night, Tool has consistently opened the show with “Fear Inoculum,” the title track off of their most recent album.

How long is the setlist?
The setlist is averaging around thirteen to fourteen songs per show, so expect a full night of Tool hits!

What’s the production like?
This is Tool we’re talking about. Although their music speaks for itself, it’s no surprise that the guys have brought out all the stops on this massive tour. From the unique narrative displays behind them to the signature Tool heptagram backdrop, the Fear Inoculum tour features a production worthy of the large stages it frames.

Other than Fear Inoculum, which albums do they pull from the most?
Of course, since the tour is in support of Tool’s first album in thirteen years, fans should expect the band to perform a fair number of tracks off of Fear Inoculum (2019). However, in addition to the recent release, Tool also pulls many hits off of Ænima (1996), Lateralus (2001) and 10,000 Days (2006).

Is there an encore?
It’s a bit more complicated than that. Rather than a brief pause in the action, Tool takes a full intermission before heading back to stage for an extended “encore” featuring typically three to four songs.
