Two of the greatest female vocalists of our generation teamed up in Nashville, TN, this weekend! Olivia Rodrigo joined forces with Sheryl Crow for a short-but-sweet setlist that spanned decades. And even if you weren’t one of the very lucky few who got to witness this collaboration at the legendary Bluebird Cafe, the duet was captured on camera for awestruck reactions all around.

“Pinch me! sang one of my favorite songs of all time with the greatest of all time @sherylcrow!!!!” Rodrigo wrote on Instagram to her 35 million followers. “What an honor!!!!” In the accompanying video, the two women harmonize flawlessly on Crow’s hit “If It Makes You Happy.” Rodrigo’s pop-rock prowess perfectly complemented the original songstress and her heartland energy, and it was a dream duet made for all types of music enthusiasts.

While Olivia Rodrigo wasn’t even born when “If It Makes You Happy” came out in 1996, she clearly has a lifelong appreciation for Crow’s artistry. Just last year, the 20-year-old pop sensation was presented with the “Woman of the Year” title by Crow at Billboard’s Women in Music Awards! “I am happy to celebrate her,” Crow said of Rodrigo in an interview. “I think she’s gonna be around a long time. She deserves to be where she is celebrating this moment.”

Women supporting women, and a gorgeous duet in the process? Let’s just say that it was a great day to be at the Bluebird Cafe. Along with her cover alongside Crow, Rodrigo performed three more songs including two live debuts. She sang her heart out with “vampire,” the first single off her all-new album, Guts, along with playing “lacy” and “making the bed” for the first time.

While she had a lot to live up to after the massive success of her debut, 2021’s Sour, it’s clear that the sophomore Olivia Rodrigo album is destined for unbelievable things. The project has already reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and is taking the pop star to dozens of cities next year on the Guts Tour! She’ll even make her grand return to Nashville, where she’ll play at Bridgestone Arena…but we’re very grateful for her brief show with Crow in the meantime.
