Highlights for Ghost's The Ultimate Tour Named Death 2019

To the untrained eye, a Ghost show may look like an opera performance or an avant-garde art installation. The one thing the Swedish metal band thrives on is creating a spectacle that is unique to say the least. The band has been on tour in North America, dubbed The Ultimate Tour Named Death, and are heading back to Europe to treat their devoted fans to a night of masks, satanic rituals and heavy metal.

The unique performance stems from the fact that the most famous part of the band is their anonymity. Save for the frontman Tobias Forge, the rest of the band are dubbed the Nameless Ghouls and despite Grammy wins, chart-topping albums and sold-out tours, there still isn't much known about the band and the members, let alone their identities. And on this most recent tour, fans are packing the venues to get a glimpse of this phenomenon in person. Ghost doesn't disappoint, offering fans both a heavy metal concert and an elaborate show with characters such as Farge's Cardinal Copia and other clergy-inspired characters with Satanic twists. Music is still at the core, with the band performing hits off of their four albums to make up the whopping 21-song setlist such as "Rats" and "Satan Prayer". Check out their most recent setlist!

The band opens their show with a Broadway-inspired entrance, dramatic and character-driven with a hint of comical, as Forge's Copia arrives to perform their opening songs "Ashes" and "Rats" from their Grammy-nominated album Prequelle and then hops on a tricyle for the more melodious and slow "Zombie Queen." Check out the insane performance below!

The night progresses as the masked performers churn out hits such as the energetic and eclectic "Year Zero" and then shifted gears, becoming more of an unpredictable performance as Copia's onstage brother Papa Nihil blares a saxophone to their instrumental hit "Miasma", proving that the band doesn't bow down to any definition of what heavy metal should be. Check out the performance below!

The band closes the Luciferian night with an encore performance of their hit "Square Hammer" off of their 2016 album Popstar cementing the night as unforgettable to their devoted fans. While their run in North America may be coming to an end soon, don't miss out on seeing a truly unique display as the band takes their masks and electric guitars back to Europe!
