Singer songwriter Sara Bareilles kicked off her Admist the Chaos Tour on October 5th at the Fox Theatre in Detroit with an intimate and blooming performance! Her opening show was sold out and her fans were treated to a very special night that featured a 21-song setlist full of new songs, old songs and even deep cuts! Curious what she played? We have all the details!
Queen Bareilles walked out to an "Orpheus" prologue where her very detailed stage design was revealed, featuring a massive centerpiece chandler made from paper sheets filled with handwritten poetry, glistened by red and blue lights. The paper sheets paired well with the artist's own storytelling musical stylings.
Her first three songs were from her latest album which shares a name with the tour - Amidst the Chaos. The rest of the setlist did an artful job of fitting in her two-decade long career into a 90-minute set. Fans got treated to songs like "Love Song" and "She Used to Be Mine," and even pulled out some deep cuts like "Soft Place to Land" and "You Matter to Me," both off of her album What’s Inside: Songs from Waitress and both only performed less than five times since it's release in 2015!
Throughout the show, fans get to be hypnotized by Bareilles' effortless movement from piano, to guitar, to solo singing. Her new band amplifies each song as every musician offers their own magical touch. You'll get to hear each of them solo in the spotlight throughout the night.
She included a two song encore of "Gravity" and "Saint Honesty" to conclude the set. You can see the complete setlist from opening night below!
