Photos + Highlights From The Last Day of Desert Daze Fest 2019

The final day of Desert Daze Music Festival, on October 13th, in the Riverside, California desert brought out phenomenal acts from all genres including Sasami, Moses Sumney and The Claypool Lennon Delirium. Here are some of our favorites from Day Three.
The Black Angels
Texas-based psych rock lords, The Black Angels returned to the desert this year locked and loaded with an 18-song setlist which included classics like “Currency” and “Young Men Dead,” as well as new material like “Vermillion Eyes.” As always, the performance was accompanied by extraordinary visuals that took the audience on a multi-sensory journey.

RIDE
Due to the disastrous typhoon and flooding in Tokyo, unfortunately, Shintaro Sakamoto was unable to perform at Desert Daze this year. Luckily, the organizers of DD had a special surprise up their sleeves to make up for the vacant time slot. Psych-shoegaze legends RIDE stepped in and performed a set which included much of their career-spanning hits like “Drive Blind,” “Seagull,” “Taste,” and of course “Vapour Trail.” Like the Black Angels, Ride’s performance was also accompanied by amazing visuals, this time from the legendary liquid projection artist Mad Alchemy.

Khruangbin
Houston’s Khruangbin brought the dance party Sunday night, wowing fans with their most popular tracks like “Mr. White” and “Evan Finds the Third Room.” Halfway through the set, the psych-funk trio surprised the crowd, whipping out a medley of covers of hip hop, R&B and pop songs. Luckily for fans, this wouldn’t be the last time they would be graced with the Khru’s presence that night…

Wu-Tang Clan
Closing out the epic three-day weekend was legendary hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan. With only 7 of the 9 living Wu-Tang Clan members present (Ghostface and Method Man were absent), the crew still managed to hype up the crowd for almost two hours. After wilding out to most of their album 36 Chambers, the Clan brought Khruangbin back out to join them in performing live together for the very first time. Needless to say, Khru-Tang was the book end to one of Desert Daze’s greatest performance line ups yet.
