Billy Joel Plays Deep Cuts + a Live Debut at 2019 Texas Concert

Billy Joel just wrapped up his seven-month tour. The catch? He played one show every month, in the spring, summer and fall, kicking things off in March and running through this weekend, where he closed out the tour with a rip-roarin' 24-song set at The Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas.

The Piano Man played a collection of greatest hits on Saturday, October 12, highlighting songs from The Stranger, Storm Front, 52nd Street and more. He played a handful of deep cuts, covers, live-debuts and fan-favorites at Arlington's Globe Life Park... keep reading for some highlights!

After showcasing mostly hits and crowd-pleasers, Joel surprised fans with a deep cut he's only played a handful of times: 1986's "Modern Woman." Prior to this Arlington show, Joel had only dug out this gem one other time since 1987: September 27 during his Madison Square Garden residency.

Until this year, he hadn't played "Modern Woman" since 1987's The Bridge Tour, during which it made its live-debut.

Speaking of live-debuts... Joel brought some Texas flavor to the stage with a cover of ZZ Top's "Tush" for the first time ever! He and rhythm guitarist Mike DelGuidice performed the song, preceding it with a fitting snippet of "The Eyes of Texas."

Other highlights from the show included "Shameless" for the first time since 2016, and fan-favorites like "Allentown," "Only the Good Die Young," "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" and "Piano Man."

He closed out his show with a five-song encore of "We Didn't Start the Fire," "Uptown Girl," "It's Still Rock and Roll To Me," "Big Shot" and "You May Be Right."
