Slipknot Wraps North American Leg of Knotfest Roadshow Tour

Legendary alternative metal band Slipknot have been on the road since the end of July in support of their most recent album We Are Not Your Kind — a fitting name for the unconventional antics of the mask-wearing musicians. As they wrapped their final show on this North American leg last night in The Woodlands, Texas, they also began preparation for the upcoming South America run this fall.

Trekking across North America for the first time in over three years, the rockers were joined by special guests Danish rock band Volbeat, French metal band Gojira and Polish death metal band Behemoth.

Slipknot have also continued to prove that they are much more than just a metal band. Instead, they are performers who rely on more than just their acclaimed music to put on an entire show for their die-hard fans, and it was no different during their official tour wrap this past weekend.

Throughout the entirety of the Knotfest Roadshow Tour, Slipknot have kept their setlist practically untouched in every city. Opening with their 2001 hit “People = Shit,” Slipknot immediately laid the foundation for a relatively vintage set to come. They continued to build upon that basis with classic hits like “(Sic),” “Get This,” “Before I Forget” and “The Heretic Anthem.”

As the jaw-dropping three-tiered glass stage lit up in a shade of deep blue, Slipknot was sure to add a few recent hits off of We Are Not Your Kind like “Unsainted” and “Solway Firth,” before reverting back to their more classic catalogue.

Ending off their first set with some of their most played songs live including “Psychosocial,” “Vermilion,” “Wait and Bleed” and “Duality,” the metal rockers geared up for a much-anticipated encore featuring their two biggest hits off of their 1999 self-titled debut album.

With the lights dimmed, frontman Corey Taylor stepped back onto stage to ask the audience a simple question — “Do you want more?” You can guess what the crowd’s reaction was following an already untouchable fifteen-song set.

Slipknot opened their encore with “Spit It Out” alongside frequent flames shooting up from the stage and a mutli-colored light show. As the pyrotechnics came to an end, the band rolled into the final track of the night and their number one most-played live song, “Surfacing.” Featuring an extended version of their old-school hit, Slipknot’s final performance somehow ended with even more fire and an accompanying cloud of smoke. But what else would you expect from the alter egos of one of the greatest metal influences of all time?
