Niall Horan completed his Flicker World Tour yesterday, the singer's second concert tour in support of his 2017 debut album of the same name.
The tour, spanning over 81 dates and four continents, hosted a collection of opening acts like Julia Michaels, Maren Morris and a few up-and-coming Irish acts at his hometown shows.
The 25-year-old's setlist remained pretty much the same throughout the tour, but he kept his audience on their toes with some surprise covers. Performing songs by Thin Lizzy, Tom Petty, Camila Cabello and Bruce Springsteen, Horan appealed to One Directioners and dads alike, and played a variety of different instruments.
Horan typically walked out to "On the Loose" before playing all 13 songs off of Flicker, sprinkling a cover or two in each show. "On the Loose" was followed by songs like "This Town," "The Tide," "Flicker" and "Too Much to Ask" before closing out with "Slow Hands" and "Mirrors."
Check out the setlist from his last show in Tampa, Florida:
Let's take a look at some of the tour's most memorable nights.
Dublin, Ireland (March 12, 2018)
Kicking off his tour at 3Arena in Dublin, Horan paid homage to his alma mater, One Direction, with a cover of 2014's "Fool's Gold." Take a listen:
He represented his homeland well, throwing in a cover from Ireland's own Thin Lizzy:
Auckland, New Zealand (June 1, 2018)
The former One Directioner didn't let jet lag get him down...Bringing along country artist Maren Morris, Horan took to Spark Arena in Auckland and told the crowd the show was well worth the 30-hour flight.
He played his unreleased track, "So Long," before moving into "Since We're Alone" on keys.
Wantagh, New York (September 12, 2018)
The day before his 25th birthday, Horan took the stage at Jones Beach Theater where fans joined in on the celebration.
During the band's introductions, keyboardist Louis Querelle led the crowd in a surprise "Happy Birthday" sing-along, to which Horan laughed, "I hate this s**t!"
Clearly in a New York state-of-mind, Horan covered this Billy Joel classic:
With a dope band, great vocals and the ability to captivate both new fans and One Direction ride-or-dies, it's pretty clear that Horan knows how to put on a good show.
This tour gave audiences a glimpse at his potential for a longstanding solo career, and though we'll always support One Direction, we're glad that Niall “don't need no one, having too much fun out here on (his) own.”
