ZZ Top Kickoff 50th Anniversary Tour with 16-Song Setlist!

ZZ Top are celebrating 50 years together with a massive world tour!

The 50-year celebration started back in May, with a three-show stand in the band's home state of Texas, followed by a six-week European stint. Their two-month U.S. leg was supposed to kick off August 16 in Ridgefield, Washington, but drummer Frank Beard fell ill with pneumonia.

“He apparently came down with the ailment while on the band’s just completed tour of Europe and, upon his return home, was advised by his physician to rest and recuperate,” a Live Nation spokesperson said.

The band *officially* embarked on the tour last night, August 21, in Woodinville, Washington and are expecting to wrap things up October 20 in West Palm Beach, Florida, with support along the way from Cheap Trick and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Forming in 1969, the band has only switched up its lineup a few times. The Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard trio have given us the ZZ Top we know and love today, spawning classic songs like "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Legs" and "La Grange."

In a statement, the band promised to play their "bluesy kind of rock like we started in '69," adding "The beards, Frank's excepted, are perhaps a bit longer, yet nothing else has changed" (anyone else find it hilarious that the only member of the band without a beard has the last name, "Beard"?)

Check out some highlights from the tour's opening night at the Chateau St. Michelle Winery Amphitheatre in Washington!

ZZ Top kicked things off with "Got Me Under Pressure" from 1983's Eliminator before getting into the rest of their 16-song set. Other Eliminator cuts included "Gimme All Your Lovin'," "Legs" and "Sharp Dressed Man."

They played Tres Hombres tracks "Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers," "Jesus Just Left Chicago" and "Waitin' for the Bus" as well as a few covers, including Sam & Dave's "I Thank You" and Merle Travis' "Sixteen Tons."

They closed the main set with "Legs" before their two-song encore of "La Grange" and "Tush."
