Exploring the Songs on Slipknot's Knotfest Roadshow Setlist

Slipknot's traveling metal circus, dubbed the Knotfest Roadshow, is something out of a metalhead's wildest dreams. The trek kicked off July 26 in Mountain View, California and is scheduled to wrap up September 8 in The Woodlands, Texas with support from Volbeat, Gojira and Behemoth along the way.

Throughout the trek, Slipknot have been treating fans to a 15-song main set with a two-song encore, highlighting songs "Unsainted" and "Solway Firth" off their latest album We Are Not Your Kind as well as fan-favorites like "Spit It Out," "Wait and Bleed" and "People = Shit."

Take a look at one of their recent setlists!

"Before I Forget"

"Before I Forget" is the third single from Slipknot's 2004 album Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) and has since been played live 500 times.

There are two hidden messages in the song: the last 18 seconds feature morse code spelling "Slipknot" and Taylor can be heard muttering "You're wasting it" played backwards. It also samples a previous song, "Carved."

"Before I Forget's" music video features the band in street clothes instead of their traditional jumpsuits.

"Unsainted"

"Unsainted" is the gritty lead single off the band's newest installment, We Are Not Your Kind. Its (creepy) music video was directed by Shawn "Crown" Crahan and was released the same day, May 16.

Slipknot debuted the song on Jimmy Kimmel on May 17 and has since performed it 37 times!

"Psychosocial"

The second single off All Hope Is Gone, "Psychosocial" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance in 2009.

The music video depicts the band burning their "purgatory masks," which was apparently Crahan's idea. He said:

"More or less, we have these giant masks that we’re wearing, called ‘purgatory masks.' They’re like giant death masks, and they represent ego."

"'Surfacing"

This song is the fifth track off the band's 1999 self-titled debut. It's been performed at every show, a total of 902 times (!!!)

When played live, it's often announced as "your new international f*cking anthem."
