RIP Dave Brockie: His Last Show w/ Gwar Took Place in March 2014

It has now been 6 years since the death of Canadian musician and GWAR band member Dave Brockie.

March 23, 2014- A 50-year-old Brockie passed away in Richmond, Virginia. After his death, GWAR held a public memorial for him and they also built a monument for Brockie in Richmond.

To celebrate Brockie’s life and everything he accomplished, we're are going to take a look back at his final performance with the band before his tragic death.

March 7, 2014 - GWAR take the stage in Tokyo, Japan in front of the crowd at Akasaka BLITZ.

The band performed a 15-song set that opened with their hit “Madness at the Core of Time." GWAR weaved in some of their other top songs including “Bring Back the Bomb,” “The Private Pain of Sawborg Destructo” and “They Swallowed the Sun.”

Gwar ended their set with “Gor-Gor,” but closed the show with “Sick of You” off of their Scumdogs of the Universe album. The heavy metal icons also performed their rendition of Billy Ocean's “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car.”

This is one performance fans and the other members of GWAR will never forget. David Brockie put his whole heart into this show not even knowing it would be hist last.

GWAR (March 7, 2014)

Now, 6 years later, GWAR continues to perform but without any of the original members.

Today, on the anniversary of Brockie’s tragic death, let’s remember all that he has accomplished as a musician and in the rest of his life outside of the band. Rest in peace to an incredible vocalist and guitarist whose work will never be forgotten.
