HBD Chester - Looking Back at Linkin Park's 16-Song Set from 2003

On July 20, 2017, we lost legendary Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington. Today, March 20th, he would've been 44-years-old. To honor his memory, we dug into our setlist archives and found an iconic set Linkin Park performed on Bennington's Birthday back in 2003.

The show in question took place in Dallas, Texas on March 20th, 2003 at the Bronco Bowl. This was part of the band's LP Underground Tour; it was only their second concert tour , launched in support of their official fan club "Linkin Park Underground" and the EPs the club had released.

The tour lasted a month, kicking off February 2003 and wrapping up March 25th with a hometown show in Los Angeles at the Wiltern, the day that their sophomore album Meteora dropped. In that time span, they toured in both Europe AND the USA.

The tickets were available to fan club members only, with the exception of Detroit and this particular Dallas show. The setlist was the same every night, opening with "Session" off of Meteora. They stopped performing that song after 2009.

The tour's setlist was divided between songs off the debut album Hybrid Theory and Meteora. Staples from their debut like "Crawling," "One Step Closer," "Papercut" and "In the End" were performed each night alongside songs like "Point's of Authority," "With You," "Runaway," and more. Meteora favorites included "Faint" and "Somewhere I Belong."

Other Meteora songs that made the setlist included deep cuts like "Don't Stay," which the band stopped performing after 2008; "Lying From You" which they stopped performing in 2013; and "Easier to Run" + "Hit the Floor," both of which were never performed live again after 2003.

"Easier to Run"

One special moment unique to CB's birthday show in Dallas was when the lead singer from opening band Blindside, Christian Lindskog, joined LP on their closing song, "One Step Closer." The song featured an extended bridge with a "Reanimation" lyrics tease. They also did "With You" in "Reanimation" style during the main set.
