Happy Birthday Lady Gaga! She Debuted "G.U.Y" on This Day in 2014

Happy birthday, Lady Gaga! 34 years ago, Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta came into this world, and it hasn't been the same since.

Let's take a look at some of her accomplishments:

  • Released 5 studio albums
  • Sold more than 30 million albums and 160 million singles
  • Created the Born This Way Foundation (BTWF) to create a "braver, kinder world" for youths
  • First woman in history to win an Academy, Grammy, Golden Globe and BAFTA in one year (2019)

Gaga has reinvented herself with each new era of her career, so in honor of her birthday, we're throwing it back to the ARTPOP era (because unlike SOME people, cough cough, we remember ARTPOP).

On this day in setlist history, Gaga performed the first of seven shows at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC. It marked the singer's first concert residency and was the final event at that venue before it got torn down and replaced with a 42-story skyscraper. Gaga wore rose-themed costumes and covered the stage with roses to give the venue "the goodbye it deserves."

(It was also her self-proclaimed "best bday ever.")

Gaga took the stage and performed an 11-song set filled with career-spanning hits from ARTPOP, Born This Way, The Fame and The Fame Monster.

The show began with an acoustic rendition of "Born This Way" on the piano followed by an upbeat performance of "Black Jesus + Amen Fashion."

She played The Fame Monster favorite "Monster" for the first time since 2011 before getting the crowd pumped up with back-to-back bops "Bad Romance" and "Sexx Dreams."

She hopped back on the piano for "Dope," "Yoü and I" and "Poker Face," and closed out the main set with "Applause" before giving fans a taste of her upcoming ArtRAVE: The ARTPOP Ball tour with a live debut of "G.U.Y."

The Roseland residency was just two months ahead of the ArtRAVE, and Gaga served us looks on a silver platter. Check out her now-iconic "Venus" wig from the live debut of "G.U.Y."

Lady Gaga was planning on releasing her sixth studio album Chromatica in April, but she postponed it due to the coronavirus pandemic. The album will serve as a follow-up to 2016's Joanne and will feature an accompanying six-date tour (check out the dates below).

Look on the bright side, monsters: at least this quarantine will give us time to learn the choreography for Chromatica's lead single "Stupid Love!"
