This Day in 2002, Sheryl Crow Plays Special 21-Song Birthday Set!

Today, February 11th, our pop-rock queen Sheryl Crow turns 58-years young. Seriously though, does that woman ever age?! She's truly a goddess, with songs to boot.

In honor of her special day, we're dedicating this Setlist History to our Aquarius Angel by taking it back to her 40th Birthday Concert Event in 2002, where she performed a very exciting show at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on this day, 18 years ago.

The show was no ordinary night with Crow, although, even a regular gig with the artist is a guaranteed memorable night. The setlist was not only made up of songs from the three albums she had released at the time, but mostly featured new songs off her upcoming fourth album C'Mon C'Mon, along with an array of cover songs - And she got by with a little help from her VERY COOL friends.

Joining Crow on the El Rey stage that night were the likes of actress Gwyneth Paltrow, Eagles' Don Henley, legendary country singer songwriter Dwight Yoakam, and music legend Doyle Bramhall II.

She first opened up the 21-song setlist with a cover of James Gang's "Walk Away," and then she performed her (at the time) latest hit "Soak Up The Sun." The single was huge before it was officially released April 2002 on C'Mon C'Mon.

The third song was when her friend Paltrow joined the stage. The dreamy Y2K duo belted out staple anthem "My Favorite Mistake." She came back a little later on to do "C'Mon C'Mon" and "The Difficult Kind."

Next up, Henley lended a hand on a trio of covers doing: "Midnight Riders" by Allman Brothers Band, "Love Hurts" by Everly Brothers, and "Dead Flowers" by The Rolling Stones. All songs you would find on a mixed CD treasure trove, if we're placing ourselves back in 2002 that is.

She did one more classic, "Everyday is a Winding Road," along with another new track, "Lucky Kid," before the next guest, Yoakam, came to perform two covers: "I Want You to Want Me" by Cheap Trick and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen. Bramhall helped out with another C'Mon C'Mon song, "You're an Original."

The legendary set ended with two encore songs of covers which Crow conquered on her own - "Good Times Bad Times" by Led Zeppelin, and one other Queen song just for good measure - "Tie Your Mother Down."

We hope Crow's 58th is just as special as this epic night, if not more.

Happy Birthday to one of my favorite songwriters!
