Sturgill Simpson Kicks Off 2020 A Good Look'n Tour with 21 Songs!

Sturgill Simpson is back in the saddle.

The country-rock singer just kicked off his massive North American arena tour in support of his new album, Sound & Fury (which has nothing to do with Faulkner). The album was released through Elektra Record in September 2019 – along with a dystopian Japanese anime film on Netflix – and features songs "Ronin," "Sing Along" and "Mercury in Retrograde."

His cross-country trek began last night, February 21st, at Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama. Simpson performed a 21-song setlist, stacked with new songs and covers alike.

He opened the show by playing Sound & Fury in full. He followed up with a cover of Willie Nelson's "I'd Have to Be Crazy" before diving into A Sailor's Guide to Earth songs "Oh Sarah," "Breakers Roar" and "Brace for Impact (Live a Little)."

Toward the end of his set, Simpson treated fans to two more covers: When In Rome's "The Promise" and William Bell's "You Don't Miss Your Water," and closed out the show with songs "Some Days," "Turtles All the Way Down" and "Call to Arms."
