Phish Kickoff 2020 Riviera Maya Concert Series with 17 Song Set!

All-American rock band Phish took on the Caribbean coastline last night at the fourth installment of the Phish: Riviera Maya concert series. Phish will play a total of three shows from February 20 to February 23 in Cancun, Mexico as part of the resort’s sold-out vacation package. The concerts contain an inclusive and intimate set featured at a new location in Cancun’s Moon Palace resort, where guests are able to stay at a resort complex.

The band opened the welcome set with a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Torn and Frayed.” This was their first performance of the cover since July 2012. They featured a wide span of tracks from their extensive discography, which had songs from iconic albums like A Picture of Nectar, The Story of the Ghost and Billy Breathes, among others.

The 17-song setlist included three other covers, with performances of Junior Senior’s “Shake Your Coconuts,” Mike Gordon’s “Victim” and “Crosseyed and Painless” by Talking Heads. Phish also played many classic hits that took the crowd back to their ‘90s roots, including energetic performances of “Destiny Unbound,” “Steam,” “Run Like An Antelope” and “Cavern.”

They closed the main set with “Say It to Me S.A.N.T.O.S,” which was released in their 2018 live release of the show in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The band also included an encore as part of the closing set, performing “You Enjoy Myself.”
