See Setlist Spoilers for Tedeschi Trucks Band 2020 Winter Tour!

While it may not come as a shock to you considering their well-known intense touring schedule, Tedeschi Trucks Band is back on the road following a brief hiatus over the holidays. Touring across the U.S. and England for a few one-off dates and multi-night residencies, the modern blues band is taking their impressive repertoire of songs through eleven more cities before wrapping this tour at the end of February.

Naturally, that won’t be the end of their touring in the new year as they have scheduled their sixth annual Wheels of Soul Tour which will lead them back around the country over the course of the summer.

All in all, Tedeschi Trucks Band have spent approximately one-third of every year on the road since 2014. That totals a little over two years altogether since they began regularly touring shortly after their formation in 2010.

Having already been nominated and won a Grammy Award, the blues revivalists clearly have a grip on their identity and success which has continued to propel them forward into their live career as well.

So what does that live status look like, and more specifically, what should fans expect to see on their current winter tour? Well, we’ve got an inside look of Tedeschi Trucks Band’s 2020 run and are ready to share all the details below. Check them out!

You mentioned multi-night residencies?
Yes! While Tedeschi Trucks Band is set to hit multiple one-off dates through January and February, there are some cities in which they will stake out for a multi-night residency. These cities include Chicago, Illinois, Red Bank, New Jersey, Washington, D.C. and Nashville, Tennessee.

Are there any setlist trends from night-to-night?
Nothing too concrete. Tedeschi Trucks Band is known for fiddling with their setlist throughout tour runs. Good or bad, this trek is no different as the band has yet to play a single song more than two times over the course of five dates. Talk about keeping the audience on their toes...

Is there a particular album they’ve pulled from the most?
Of their four full-studio albums, they have spread their picks relatively evenly amongst them all. However, they have chosen just a few more tracks off of their 2016 record Let Me Get By than any other piece of content.

What about covers?
You know it. These rock gurus are famous for choosing well-known rock and blues songs from their predecessors and tweaking them to fit their own live style. Some major hits from this tour thus far include Willie Nelson’s “Somebody Pick Up My Pieces,” The Allman Brothers Band’s “Don’t Keep Me Wonderin’,” Bob Dylan’s “Down in the Flood,” and Titus Turner’s “Sticks and Stones.”

Anything from The Derek Trucks Band?
Lead guitarist Derek Trucks started his own band called The Derek Trucks Band in the early ‘90s. Similarly to the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Derek’s previous group found their identity in blues rock with a bit more of a Southern influence. Considering the success of that band, Tedeschi Trucks Band will often pay homage to their origination and it’s been no different on this current tour. So far, they have covered “Get What You Deserve.”

Have there been any special guests?
Yes! So far, Tedeschi Trucks Band have invited one special guest to join them during a performance. In Macon, Georgia, Blackberry Smoke vocalist Charlie Starr made his way on stage to contribute to the band’s performance of the Leon Russell original “Stranger in a Strange Land.”

Any other surprises?
Unfortunately, there haven’t been any other surprises from Tedeschi Trucks Band YET. However, taking into account that just last year they welcomed nearly twenty different artists as special guests throughout their entire touring cycle, we wouldn’t be surprised if they had a trick or two up their sleeves for this current run. And with multi-night residencies in place, it gives other artists even more opportunities to find the time to join the headliners for a song or two.

What does production look like?
With upwards of twelve musicians on stage at any given time, you can imagine there isn’t much room for large visual productions. Instead, Tedeschi Trucks Band takes advantage of their gift as instrumentalists and composers to make the music the center of the show.

Can we see a recent setlist?
